Garstang is a small UK village in Lancashire, with 4 schools and two main streets. Since Garstang became Fairtrade accredited in 2000, there are now hundreds Fairtrade Towns and Cities across the globe.

A year after the Israeli military offensive, Operation Cast Lead, rained bombs down on the people of Gaza, Save the Children wanted to find out the effect on the children. Working with 7 young people in the nothern town of Beit Hanoun, 3 short films about their lives in Gaza were made. Despite never having used a video camera before, the film was filmed and directed by the children themselves.

Protecting Children in Haiti

Save The Children have set up child friendly spaces in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake.

Child trafficking was a big problem in Haiti long before the devastating earthquake. The problem is likely to get much worse, without the necessary border controls in place, there's an increased risk children will be taken out of the country.
